Before we start with the types of hands,we will like to tell you about a very important thing related to Poker and that is Betting.
During any game of Poker, you have to know how much money each player has put into the pot and that is called “Bet”. You can say that one round of betting begins with the first player to the left of the dealer and ends with the Dealer.
The game began as an Asian Indian variation on traditional draw poker, but has evolved to include additional draws and betting rounds (and therefore play for multiple hands per round). This development results in each player having four opportunities to improve their hand by discarding cards. It may also be referred to as Badugi Poker or more simply, Badugi.
Badugi is closely related to triple draw lowball, because all of the low hands are bad hands in both games. The name “badugi” is derived from pronouncing the full deck of cards in a multiple draw hand with the low spade being BAD-you-gee.
The object of Badugi is to have the best hand, according to standard poker hand rankings. A player’s four-card badugi is compared with the badugis of other players in order to determine who has the best badugi hand. Any combination of four cards which combine into a single numerical rank (the kicker does not count) is a badugi hand.
There are a total of thirteen ranks in the Badugi card ranking. In each poker variation, each card carries a rank as shown from lowest to highest: 2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-J–Q–K–A (low). In all versions of Badugi, an ace can be used in a badugi hand as the lowest card of any rank.
There are four cards dealt face down to each player. At the end of each round, players discard one or more cards and draw replacements from the remaining deck in order to form their final four-card hands. The initial number of cards dealt to each player, and the number of cards discarded by players in each round depends on the specific variation of Badugi being played.
In the most popular version of Badugi, each player receives four cards face down and passes three cards face down to another player. Thus, each player has one card in their hand and three on the table in front of them in this round. After everyone discards in the fourth round all players will have four cards in their hands and there will be no cards on the table.
